This CompTIA Security+ training course provides the foundational knowledge you need to pass the CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 certification exam, and the skills to ensure compliance and operational security in your organization.

CompTIA Security+ certification is a vendor-neutral certification that is recognized worldwide as a benchmark for information system security best practices. Earning Security+ certification demonstrates your knowledge of industry-wide information assurance topics, like systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography, and organizational security.

Attend this CompTIA Security+ training in one of three formats - live, instructor-led, on-demand or a blended on-demand/instructor-led version.

Who should attend:

CompTIA Security+ is an entry-level IT security certification for IT professionals wishing to complement their IT skills with a cyber element. This course is appropriate for anyone but common roles include systems administrators, network administrator, security administrator, junior IT auditor/penetration tester, security specialist, security consultant, and security engineer.

Walk away with the ability to:

  • Detect various types of compromise and have an understanding of penetration testing and vulnerability scanning concepts.
  • Install, configure, and deploy network components while assessing and troubleshooting issues to support organisational security.
  • Implement secure network architecture concepts and systems design.
  • Install and configure identity and access services, as well as management controls.
  • Implement and summarize risk management best practices and the business impact.
  • Install and configure wireless security settings and implement public key infrastructure


Ideally, you should have successfully completed the 'CompTIA Network+ Support Skills' course and have around 24 months' experience of networking support or IT administration. It is not necessary that you pass the Network+ exam before completing Security+ certification, but it is recommended.

It is recommended that you have the following skills and knowledge before starting this course:

  • Know the function and basic features of the components of a PC.
  • Use Windows Server to create and manage files and use basic administrative features (Explorer, Control Panel, Server Manager, and Management Consoles).
  • Operate the Linux OS using basic command-line tools.
  • Know basic network terminology and functions (such as OSI Model, Topology, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, switches, routers).
  • Understand TCP/IP addressing, core protocols, and troubleshooting tools.


The CompTIA Security+ exam is a maximum of 90 multiple choice and performance-based questions over 90 minutes. The passing score is 750 out of 900.
